Boating at Satkosia Gorge
The Mahanadi cuts through the Eastern Ghats here to form the Satkosia gorge, a stretch of calm water flanked by forested hills on both sides. A slow boat ride is easily the most memorable thing you can do around the property.

Satkosia Tiger Reserve & Jungle Safari
The property is right next to the Satkosia Tiger Reserve, a protected forest that is home to elephants, deer, leopards, and a huge variety of birds. Jungle safaris can be arranged through the host, and the drive itself is often as good as the destination.
Watch out for the elephant crossing signboards on the road. This is real elephant country, and sightings are not rare.
Dams, Rivers & Forest Trails
Budhidei Dam
A quiet reservoir tucked into the hills at Budhidei. Perfect for a peaceful morning stop, birdwatching, a picnic, and long unhurried photographs.
Sisupathar Dam
A calm reservoir with an open viewing pavilion built right over the water, set against a backdrop of low hills. A good spot for sunrise or sunset stops, quiet birdwatching, and a few minutes of stillness on the way to or from the property.
Pragalapitha
A popular picnic spot built around a striking temple with a golden dome and tiger statues at the entrance. A relaxed half day outing with family.
Jungle Safari
A guided drive through the reserve. Early morning slots give the best chance of spotting elephants, deer, and if you are lucky, big cats.
Waterfalls, Bridges & Hidden Gems
Champannath Tortoise Hub
A protected pool full of freshwater tortoises. Come with a handful of puffed rice and watch them surface, one after another. Kids love this stop.
Deojhar Waterfall
A tall single stream falling into a clear pool at the base. Best visited right after the monsoon when the flow is at its most dramatic.
Bhatarika
A revered Shakti temple on the banks of the Mahanadi, set on a small hill with lovely river views on all sides.
T Bridge
An unusual T shaped bridge across the Mahanadi with an island in the middle. Stop on the way for the sweeping view and quick photos.
Temples & Culture
Nilamadhab Mandir
An ancient hilltop temple complex overlooking the Mahanadi, with its distinctive cluster of white shikharas rising above the river bank.
Fategarh Ram Mandir
A newer Ram temple built in classical Kalinga style, with detailed stone carving and a large open courtyard. Peaceful in the early evening.
Kapilas
The Chandrasekhar temple at Kapilas, a tall white Kalinga shikhara set against forested hills. Both the walk up and the shrine itself are worth the visit.
Saptasajya
Seven hills, a small temple, and a mythological link to the Pandavas. A great spot for a slow, scenic walk through the forest.
Artisan Village
A nearby village known for its traditional crafts, with a small community shrine at its heart. A chance to meet the makers, pick up something handmade, and see rural Odisha up close.
